PST star treatment
We are staying in Forrest Cottages in Kampala, U right now for the next 2 days and the PC is treating us like royalty. I feel like they are doing this to fatten us up before they throw us out to the hounds J just kidding! Everything is still supper. I got vaccinated for MMH and Typhoid today that makes the count up to 3. Side effects are still minimal, praise the Lord! Today we had our first language classes in “survival Lugandan” so we will be able to at least say please and thank you and where is the bathroom to our host families. The staff here is great! I love them all! We have a staff here of about 10ish comprised of Language Trainers, Country Directors, Associate Country Directors and Health Staff. The place we are staying right now, Forrest Cottages is located on a hillside and surrounded by Papaya and Mango trees. It feels like we are on a Caribbean island, although I don’t think this star treatment will last much longer. Our group grows closer everyday as we learn more about each other.

We had interviews with the Country Director today to discuss in more detail what it is we would like to be doing while here, and to tell them in more detail what our skills are. The CD (country director) told me that most likely I will be doing teacher training at one or more schools. I would work with the teachers to develop a better way to teach their students about AIDS/HIV through different teaching methods including, drama and MUSIC!!! Let’s keep our fingers crossed that is where I will be placed, because it is sooooo perfect.

Tomorrow we get to head into Kampala for a tour then to the PC office for a picnic from where I will be posting this blog. Each day seems more exciting from the last. I can’t wait to see what adventure holds in store tomorrow! Oh, and I also got my first card today from my Mom and Dad! Thanks guys!

Love you all!

Sarah C! Yay for your post :-) I'm glad things are going so well for you. You really are SarahinAfrica now. How cool is that!?
As a senior, I keep getting asked silly things like what have you most learned from college....and you're proving one of them now: God always works things out better than we had ever imagined, just not always when or how we expected. Thanks for continuing to inspire:-) Hugs and prayers!

I just want to thank you so much for calling me this morning. It was so cool to hear your voice and talk to you. However i think we need to work on this time difference. So that way neither one of us call each other at about 3:30 in the morning while said person is trying to sleep. Just kiding i didn't mind at all (i was just confused as all get out). So if 3am is the only time you can ever call me then thats fine by me.

I'm so excited for you and the Uganda team, tell them hi! Hope Africa continues to be fabulous. Enjoy the papayas. I especially enjoyed your packing list -- and the keeper. Good luck with the language -- tell us how to say hi in Lugandan.

Love Ame D.S.

Hi - just wanted to drop you a line to tell you about www.skype.com. It is a free program for computers that allows you to talk to each other, either over computer and/or phone line. My nephew in Norway has it to talk to his parents in Houston. I have talked to him and it is a very clear connection. Check out the website - just google it. It looks like calls to Uganda are about 15 cents a minute.

Anyway, hope this is helpful.

Take care,
Lynne P

Yeah, wow. How about those first few moments after you drove out of the airport. Overwhelming, huh? (Bangladesh was much the same)... I am sure that you are rocking over there, maybe you have even met people there that are as de-liscious as I am! :) I have been bad at checking this but will try and do it more in the future

Hey Sarah!! This is Missy, Rachel, and Emily. We tried to call you tonight, but were sadly informed by our calling card that we were not allowed to call that number. :( We will try another calling card soon, I swear. Hope you are feeling better! We all love you lots.

Sarah C,
I know you don't get to check your blog much, but I have not been able to find a suitable phone card in J-ville so it may have to wait until I go home for fall break in a few weeks. But hearing your voice made my day and to know that in a few days I will be able to (hopefully) call you and get to talk with you makes me real excited:) My phone is silly and I just got your voicemail today.
Are you wearing sunscreen? You better be because K Momma isn't there to blow on any sunburns:) And have you met the PCV you told me about...did you educate him?
I miss you bunches and send my love and prayers to you!

Hey Crazy Africa Girl!!!!!

We missed you a lot at homecoming. So much so that we bought a phne card to call you, except, it didn't work for Africa. We will call as soon as we find one that is international enough for Africa, I promise. I hope that everything is going really well with you. I am very excited for you and hope that you are loving it there.

Rachel R.
